AVEY TARE — Oliver Twist (Down There, 2010)
Avey Tare released Down There a year ago, but I still find myself listening to it often and uncovering more and more of its emotional and sonic intricacies every time.
‘Oliver Twist’ is maybe the most immediately catchy track off the album and the video is appropriately swampy and gloomy. It was directed by Jack Kubizne (also directed ‘Brothersport’) and is a work of wonderfully mindbending animation. This is surely one of the darkest and most violent Animal Collective-related videos.
